To Babylon

Yahtzee! Hope all is well fam.  Here in Cali we gotta the mega festival Coachella going down this weekend, so myself and Kinman are heading out into the desert tomorrow for some major partying and listening enjoyment.  I’m pretty excited, events that only happen one time of year create a real sense of anticipation for those that enjoy attending the large festivals.  While it will be packed full of sweaty fat dudes, crazy hippies, geeky too cool hipsters, and lots of weirdos, it’s also full of a lot beautiful people and loads of insane music including a large roster of smaller up and comers.  It’s not all about electronic music or bass music for that matter, which I like, cause there’s so much other music out that makes life just that much better.

So anyways got a couple choonies that are getting me psyched for the weekend.  First one up is a new tune by super badman Emalkay.  As always Emalkay delivers massive high energy sound system bangers that have some unique twist from the general status quo mess of tunes out there.  The tune titled Breathe is a remix he did for Delilah, and while I won’t take it so far as saying it’s one of his best tunes I’ve heard, it definitely is one worth commenting on.  Nice poppy vocals layered of an assortment of anthemic mid range wobbles.  Have a listen, definitely one that would push the dance floor to get buck!

.

Taking it down a notch, no pun intended, we got Enigma Dubz sending us some free goodness.  The tune has been in circulation for a little while now, but proper piano melodies and lower level lurking going on in this one.  This guy has been putting out some serious variety of quality tunes in the last year and it seems he’s finally start to get some attention.  Just the other day I saw Hatcha big upping him on Facebook, so give him some further support and scope his new tunes.

Enigma Dubz – 28 Beats Later

.

Last tune for the day is to send you out on some proper rasta man ting vibes.  Roommate comes at us with a release on King Dubbist titled Dragon Riddim.  Straight reggae styling baseline skanking.  Not much to say except that it’s tunes like these that put me in a good minstate to go enjoy the weekend.

.

O and thought I’d mention one last tune that showed its face today.  I’m a firm believer that many of you deep heads should be supportive of the drum & bass scene as well.  Jubei & Flowdan released a massive half step collab today titled Say Nothin.  Not much to say other than that it’s massive.

.

So yes, blessings through the rest of the week.  Thanks always for the support, and I’ll have some music reports to post up next week.

Jah Bless,

-Lowkey

Dubs Unlimited

Hey everybody!  It’s good to be back laying some tunes down for you today.  Hold tight and groove out, there’s a couple tunes here that put smiles on my face throughout the day so hopefully they’ll give you the same feeling.  The thing about music is you feel no pain, jah bless.

First up is a sick remix by bad man Kahn.  This one is straight groovy with a sweet little vocal sample on loop.  If you’ve spent time listening to Kahn, you’ll recognize his trademarked drum patterns as soon as the tune drops, makes you wanna stomp about.  Massive respects to Kahn for always delivering them high grade sounds.

.

Next selection comes from duo Swindle & Silkie.  Recently released, this is a large one in my opinion, and Silkie’s coming to visit LA in 3 weeks and I’m hoping he drops this dub for us to vibe to.  Stacked with a large intro, the tunes synths set the scene for an explosive drop that pushes that positive energy inna dance.  Purple riddims to say the least, this skanker pushes the vibes I love to hear.

.

Last tune we will leave you off with tonight is one by Gorgon Sound, a side project Kahn has with Neek.  This rasta influxed dubplate is set to drop April 9th, as a limited 400 copies test press, on Peng Sound Records, strictly vinyl only!  Full of low end weight and rasta vibrations, all them with the big systems turn it up.  Sorry about all the chatting on the clip, but give it a listen anyway, both the A and B side are nice.

.

Big up  fam.  As always it’s a pleasure sharing tunes with you, pay it forward!  We’ll be back at you tomorrow with some more sounds, but for now good morning, good afternoon, and good night.

I & I,

Good Lookin’ – Well Done Freebies

Bigups! We’re back at it today to link you up with some big time subweight at no cost. As of late, we’ve been blessed with the popular trend amongst artists of giving out free tunes in exchange for Facebook ‘Likes’, so keep em’ coming! Most heads think the free ones are sub-standard tracks scraped from the back of a harddrive, but in the vastness of the internet we found some really great gems. Take a few minutes to lend an ear and queue up those downloads!

.

.

Starting off strong, we got a free remix from Belgian bad men, Requake. Given out for Facebook likes, ‘Nightfall’ features soothing vocals and a crunchy-lurking sub bass. If you aren’t familiar with Requake grab this tune, and if you already are, then you will definitely grab this tune!

Second up is a smooth jam from ultra-deep don Congi. Given out via Dubstep For Deep Heads this freebie is definitely a good snag. Featuring jazzy horns and classy pianos, ‘Somnium’ sounds like it would be playing in the elevator at the Deep Medi offices. It’s an absolute jam! Give it a listen and a download, and also check out Deep Head’s soundcloud for their batch of 30 free tunes.

Saving the best for last, we recommend snagging this sub-packed free EP from Collision via bloggers Headmuk. Coming with 4 tracks of fire, we send a big ‘Thank You’ out to Collision. We’re specifically feeling ‘Tyrant’ & ‘Hoodlum’ both featuring very nice rolling basslines and ‘Hoodlum’ has the feel of a heavy-weight grime beat. Don’t sleep on this one!

As always, reach out to these fellas and show some love with Facebook likes, soundcloud follows and simple thank yous. We hope you and your digital dj bag are happy, have fun with these ones.

Peace.

Roll It Out

Oi bredren,

Today we have a couple selections of some high calibre lurkers to set you straight.  By all means turn them speakers up and lets us deliver you some illy low level frequencies.

First up is a forthcoming release on mega label Subway Music set to drop on March 26.  Coming from a producer from the land down under going by the name of Droid Sector, the tunes are titled Catharsis/Sarcophagus.  Catharsis has a nice intro, sounding almost as if it was played with a xylophone.  The drop is mysterious, heavy in it’s kick drums but offset by a combination of atmospheric elements.  It’s one that definitely gets more interesting as you give it numerous listens.  Sarcophagus is maximum bassweight.  With rasta chants preceeding a massive drop this one is a killa.  For sure one to fill up all aspects of a soundsystem, Droid Sector does it proper with this badman choon.

Be sure to swing by Subway’s site and have a look.  These boys have been killing it in the Netherlands and globally for quite some time now. Subway Music

Thought it was worthy of a mention to highlight a VIP I recently heard of a tune that I thought was solid in itself.  The tune titled Swarf, we highlighted a month or two ago as a serious lurker from masterminds Thelem & Killawatt.  With a new twist on it the VIP pushes even deeper into the depths.  Ripped from a mix Thelem did, watch out for this one, who knows if it will get a release.

Last tunes of the day come from a producer we’ve never covered before named Server.  The tunes titled Boxing/Looking are set to release on Surfase Records on April 23.  Boxing utilizes hard snapping snares with consistent punching kick drums to keep the tune flowing throughout. Looking is a bit darker with bass stacked deep throughout.  I like how Server really utilizes his snares to compliment the low end pressure in the tune. Have a listen.

Blessings to all in the coming weekend.  Here in Cali we are lucky enough to have High Contrast, Netsky, & Andy C paying us a visit this weekend.  As we all here at BWS came to love dubstep music through years of listening to drum and bass, this weekend we are bruking out and paying respect to our roots.

Peace

Released just today and yesterday, both Kahn and Biome decided to relinquish some dubs upon the  nation. Both these cats are Bassweight favorites, so to get some free ones from em is really a treat.

Kahn‘s celebrating his 5000+ facebook folllowers, and in his good mood, gave away 4 unreleased remixes. Definitely download this and lend an ear to his unique style. There’s even a couple for the ladies…

Biome‘s free track is a genuine smasher and definitely deserves to be in your playlist. With less focus on a snare, the huge bass really takes over on this one, allowing for a sub-heavy crowd pleaser.
