‘Live From The Future’ LP Sampler ft. Wayfarer, Seven & Joe Raygun

Uprise Audio - Live From The Future

EZ everyone!

With the blatantly undeniable presence Uprise Audio has asserted over the past few months, I’m sure the title of this feature was nothing unbeknownst to any of you readers.  Seven and his family of producers/promoters/DJ’s/etc. have been a shining example of passionate dedication and the favorable results said characteristics produce.  From their records flying off the shelves to their crew leaving each city they touch fiending for more Uprise, the label has established its position within the dubstep underground – the top.  After releasing three singles, the label announced its debut album – ‘Live From The Future’ – which is due out mid-October of this year.  Harnessing the talent of both established and emerging artists, the album will be a superbly balanced collection of music giving hint to the label’s near future direction.

The label has put out an album sampler featuring tracks from label boss Seven, and extremely talented Wayfarer.  Seven’s track features the vocals of Joe Raygun and bolsters the album’s title, creating a mood beyond suiting, with lushly reverberating chords backed by atmospheric warmth that genuinely has the power to lift your soul to a realm distant from anything sentient.  The engineering of his mid-frequencies create an element of emotion that sidesteps the too commonly heard aggressive reese growl, providing listeners with something clean and refreshing.  The beat sets a precedence of cutting-edge production standards and emotive appeal.  Wayfarer has literally taken the scene by storm with his track ‘Reflections’.  VIVEK giving it the rewind treatment at System is a testament to the immense power this beats holds.  The percussive mastery that Wayfarer has gained through years of drumming prior to his involvement in the dubstep scene bleed through the mixdown with hit after impeccable hit.  This, like ‘Live From The Future’, hits you deep in your soul courtesy of the overwhelmingly powerful vocals and the < 60hz warmth that vibrates through the airwaves.  It’s really a trip to think what else this album will consist of with these two tracks being some of the most noteworthy within dubstep over the past few months.

The release is exclusive to Beatport for now but will be available at all fine retailers fairly soon.  Below are previews to the two tracks off the sampler and links to stay connected with Uprise, Seven, and Wayfarer.  Also, stay tuned for my interview with Wayfarer that will be published sometime next week 🙂

Killjoy – Memories EP [TUM004]

.TUM004 artwork

Oi!  Hope everyone is good, yeah?

I want to bring the spotlight back to the Tumble Audio imprint today, as Monday saw the release of their 4th installment.  Killjoy (aka Core aka Ashburner) makes his return to the buttons with three original tracks, accompanied by remixes from Caski and Notion.  Killjoy put Tumble Audio on the map after writing the label’s debut release back in October of ’12 with his ‘XTC’ EP, namely (in my opinion) the track ‘Tiki’.  Killjoy brings an eclectic trio of music for 004, each tune embracing its own persona within the UK Funky format.  The 4×4 kick and pumping bassline in the title track offer up a instant party starter, while the groovy drum breaks and crafty vocal sampling of ‘Inaudible Badness’ bring things right back to the dancehall.  ‘Tangle Riddim’ is a breed of its own, sounding like some sort of brainchild of Coki’s ‘Goblin’ after a night of ketamine and Atari – a tool certain to set the energy off!  Ghost Records signee Caski puts a 140 spin on ‘Memories’, with a halfstep skeleton that leaves plenty of room for sub-bass flex and vocal intricacies.  Notion has outdone himself with his take on ‘Memories’, crafting an absolute slumper of a tune.  Infusing grime and funky to provide a track that will convulse your body through a state of boogie like no other!  It’s no surprise that such talent comes from Bristol.

Check the release below, and make sure to keep yourself locked into the Tumble Audio and Killjoy pages for future release/parties/etc.

UNDERSOUNDlab001 ft. d:Alog, Matt Joe, Harry McCanna & Isherwood

Undersound Lab Art

Ez everyone!  I’ve got an EP for you today, coming from a label/night crew called Undersound based out of London.  The EP is in the vein of dark and minimal house music and packs a lot of groove in it.  The debut EP features artists known to myself like Matt Joe and d:Alog, as well as two that I’ve yet to stumble across – Harry McCanna and Isherwood.  My percy off this release is without a doubt ‘Hackney’ by Matt Joe.  The subtlety in the design of the atmospheres provide a brilliantly eerie  landscape for the drum breaks to take precedence in the mix, causing a commotion within people’s feet.  The EP is hosted on the label’s Bandcamp page and is offered as a “name your price” release, so you can donate as much, or as little as you feel necessary.  A couple dollars wouldn’t hurt you 😉  Below is the label’s press release, links to the Undersound pages, and a link to download the EP from the Undersound Bandcamp.  Hope you enjoy!

“We are finally out with the first release of the UNDERSOUNDlab, a platform for our own artists and other talented producers around us to share some of their music with like minded people and establish the sound of our Collective.  Undersound started as a community of music lovers based in London in 2011, and thanks to the power of the Internet steadily connected with many like minded people around Europe.  Our events in East London are our chances to gather together and celebrate electronic music, and the releases on this net label will reflect the sound of our parties.”

Uprise Audio Announces ‘Live From The Future’ LP

Uprise Audio - Live From The Future

I’m sure many of you have already seen the news circulating through social media networks, but for those who haven’t, Uprise Audio CEO Seven has announced today the collaborative effort between Uprise and WESC for the release of the label’s debut LP that will showcase it’s sustained ability to penetrate the airwaves with nothing but innovation and dedication.  The album will feature music from the likes of Seven, Wayfarer, Taiko, Spec, Nanobyte, Chewie and Dubtek, among others.  Harnessing momentum from the imprint’s most recent catalog addition – UA004 – there will be a sampler featuring two tracks: Seven ft. Joe Raygun – ‘Live From The Future’ & Wayfarer – ‘Reflections’.  The sampler is scheduled to release July 15th within all major record retailers.  Be quick, because both tracks on this sampler will cause a quick sell-out (for vinyl).  Digital heads rest assured, it will be offered as .mp3 as well.

The full-length album is scheduled for October 7th, 2013 and will be offered in various formats including: 2 x 12″ vinyl package containing 6 songs, CD, and digital versions.  More clips from these tunes will begin to surface as the release date nears us, and you can count on hearing these being played out by the Uprise family during gigs and so forth.

Below are clips from the two tracks that will be featured on the LP sampler (UALPS1).  Seven’s work with Joe Raygun on ‘Live From The Future’ is one of the most astounding tracks I’ve heard recently, exhibiting both Seven’s vast knowledge of sound engineering and his maturity as a producer.  The emotion and power apparent in this beat fills the body with warmth, employing an array of colorful synths and clean, abrupt drum-work.  Wayfarer takes two worlds within the umbrella of electronic music and concocts a flawless integration of both.  The vocals on this beat instantly sent chills down my spine, from both the lyrics and the hauntingly beautiful power within the voice.  When Wayfarer’s unrivaled ability to execute drums appears within the mix, it’s a breed of animal that dubstep has yet to see.  In my mind, Kenzo should have rewound this at least one more time ;).

Keep your eyes on this space for further updates regarding the album.  Big up to each and every one of you.  I’ll catch you soon.

One love.

Direct Motion – ‘Those That Lead/Part Of Me’ [DIFF017]

0 - Sleeve (DIFF017)

Bless up fam’.

I’ve got some sounds with a bit faster formula for your dome pieces today. If you’ll recall a couple months back, our good homie – Begrim – featured the Diffrent Music crew as part of his ‘Audiovisual Spectrum’ piece that aimed to highlight a collection of sounds, each representing an associated color within the sound spectrum. The Diffrent crew, headed up by Chris Dexta, has utilized the past three years to build a culture/brand/sound that they can call their own. Something that denies the listener the opportunity to toss in a pile of generic and oversaturated sounds. The ‘Diffrent Sound’, now what does that entail, you ask? It entails militant drum productions, strict adherence to the power of sub-bass and a philosophy of minimalism that allows the space within the mix to cause an uncontrollable nod in the heads of listeners. Now, of course, these guys didn’t pioneer the halfstep sound, but they have certainly injected a flavor into the formula that can be spotted by many a seasoned listener. With a back catalog hosting names like Arkaik, Stanza, Beezy, Fable, Dexta, and many more, the imprint has solidified a prominence among the underground drum and bass community.

For the label’s 17th installment, Direct Motion is brought on board to provide two absolute stompers, furthering the label’s mission. Falling into theme with the label’s name, mission, and achievements, the opening track’s title of ‘Those That Lead’ is no coincidence. Audio bits questioning authority add thematic expanse to the track’s superb utilization of cinematic programming as the prominence of the drums weave in-and-out of the low- and mid-frequency basslines employed. ‘Part Of Me’ is my personal favorite from this release. The vintage-sounding female vocals and the jungle aesthetic apparent within the drumwork immediately caught my ear, and I’ve found myself rinsing this one nonstop.

.

The release is available exclusively through the Diffrent Surus store until it’s official release date of Monday June 10th, at which time it will be available at all fine digital shops. If you’re feeling the sounds, make sure to support the artists and BUY THEIR MUSIC. These guys aren’t Rolling Stone cover rockstars who make millions off touring and merchandise sales – these are everyday Joe’s, like you and I, trying to spread their musical talents through to the masses.
