Depth Charged By Legend4ry, Inkarv, Kaiju, and More!

What up fam!  It’s your boy Kinman back with some fresh bits that I know will tickle your fancies.  If you don’t like them you should probably just delete your Facebook page.  I’m hoping a few of you get that one, haha.  Anyways, the weather is starting to warm up over here in California (As if it’s not warm pretty much the entire year here) and I got to say, I love California.  One of the most gorgeous places on this earth.  Anywhere where you have plate activity you’re going to have jaw-dropping natural beauty.  Too many people take their surroundings for granted and it bums me out.  Just take a few minutes out of your day to really look around you, this earth has so much beauty contained within its borders.  I don’t care where you live, there is wonder.

The first tune up today is one from Inkarv.  This jam is pure vibes, so it’s not surprise that it was a runner-up for the Outlook Festival producer competition.  Honestly one of the more beautiful pieces of music I’ve heard lately.  From the inspiring vocal samples to the groovy drum sequencing, this tune is one for the lovers no doubt.  Some true eyes down business.

Now we’re going to progress into some more head-nodding jams.  The latest release for Osiris Music, coming from the hands of Kaiju.  We’ve highlighted some tracks of this guy previously so hopefully you’re familiar with him, if you’re not, then get on it!  The A side of the release, titled ‘Close Break’ fully displays Kaiju’s ability to concoct heart-stopping sub-frequencies.  The vocal’s that are layered over the track give you a very reassuring vibe.  The second tune, ‘Belcanto’, is priceless.  Honestly, there really isn’t much I can say about this tune because you need to hear it for yourself.  No surprise that KM signed both of these tunes, they’re golden!

Next up we got another one from Percept.  The man is just making tune after tune.  This one is on the mad bouncy vibe, I’m loving it too!  The kicks on this keep your body bouncing while the cinematic ambiances grab your mind and plummet it into the underworld.  Big up to Percept on this one and all of his recent accomplishments!

Percept – Hedorah (Widowmaker on Rood FM)

.

To close things out for the night I have two MASSIVE tunes from different artists, Killawatt & Quantam Soul, and Legend4ary.  These tunes are madddnesssssss, both of them.  To see Killawatt and Quantam Soul on the same track made my stomach erupt with butterflies because I knew it was going to be something just off the charts massive, and it was.  I can’t imagine this tune going unsigned and if it does I will be quite disappointed  because this is definitely a platter that I want in my crates.  The other bit from Legend4ry is another roller that can set the dance off HARD!  Legend4ry is one of the most underrated producers, in my opinion, so spread this guys sounds around!  A straight badman on the buttons.

Alright fam, blessings upon all of you, can’t express how grateful we are to have such a dope community (you guys) that we can share all of this great music with.  Until next time…

To the gods.

Spotlight: Innamind Recordings

Today we want to feature a record label that’s putting out some serious heat and bound to be turning heads in the year to come.  Hailing from the bass bumping mega island New Zealand, today’s post highlights Innamind Recordings.  Stacked with releases planned in the months to come and a roster of artists producing quality lurkers, I think we can expect big things from these boys.

The first artist of mention, is part of the UK’s Macabre Unit crew which we covered last; they go by the name of Pheral.  Pheral is a collaboration of Gengar and Bagheera, two producers/DJ’s from Leuven, Belgium. The duo came together in October 2011, united by a love for the eyes-down side of things. Support comes from the likes of Sleeper, Biome, Demon, Perverse, Tallan, Versa, Rowl, Anex, Occult etc.  Alongside their productions, they’re also residents at Leuven events Entropy and Space Shaped.  A couple months ago, Pheral put out a release on Innamind titled ‘Sanctuary/Hatchway’.  Sanctuary’s a deep one, with a sick ominous sample set right before the drop.  This one’s straight dark, almost creepy in a way.  Sick use of percussion in this one no doubt.  Hatchway’s on the same tip, quick snare patterns and deep sweeping drums.

Head over to Pheral’s Facebook page to hear a recent remix of his tune done by a producer named Knowledge, its deep!

Next on the lineup is Percept.  Set to release an E.P. entitled Boxed In later this month, Percept displays the sound that we here at BWS love to listen to.  Check his tune ‘Boxed In’, it’s soundsystem music to say the least.  Hold tight for this waan.

Percept – Boxed In

.

Moving forward, we got sounds coming from Nanobyte, a producer from Cardiff, UK.  It’s unreal how much good music comes from the UK, but when you have enough creative minds in a small area pushing the boundaries of quality bass music, you can expect large things.  The first couple of tunes showcased are titled ‘Shadow Hunter’ and ‘Shen’.  I catch myself finding a lack of words to describe the depth of the production being pushed so have a listen.  This is what music feels like.

Also these mandem did a remix of ‘Dem A Talk’ which is straight on par.  That’s the third high grade remix of this tune we’ve heard with other remixes coming from Compa and TMSV.  He’s giving it away once he gets 600 follower on Facebook so start following!

Nanobyte – Dem A Talk (Remix)

.

Last artist to highlight today under the Innamind imprint is Gantz.  Last week we covered a remix of one of his tunes and this week we want to mention a release set to come out in months to come.  The tune’s titled ‘Left Right Hindsight’ and has a different vibe than the rest.  Constant kick drums and off beat snares light up the speakers with part of the tune sounds like Jah blowing a huge breathe through the rest of the elements. Listen all the way to the end as the second drop fades out, it’s really dope.  Also forthcoming on the Gantz EP is a tune called ‘Cave Dance’.  This one takes you through an abyss of spacey, tribal-influenced deepness.  This EP is going to be much anticipated by all the heads.

That’s Innamind Recordings in a nutshell for you.  Be sure to have a deeper look at the label for other artists not covered today such as Content, and tunes put out in the past.  Watch their space, as they’re set to release tunes on wax later in the year.  Thanks for all support.  Tonight we are headed to LA to bruk out to one of the our biggest bass music heavyweights, Breakage.  Check this space later in the week for a review on what dubplates he had up his sleeve.  Knowing that mans swaggers, it’s finna be XXXL.

Bless,

– BWS (Lowkey)

Serious Bassweight Business

Oi! We’re back again with another installment of some of the finest bassweight business being pushed out right now. Obviously we can’t highlight ALL of the quality material being put out right now but we got some really great music for you today. Trying to keep things fresh we have tunes from all different ends of the spectrum. Everything from vocal-drenched to techno-infused.

The first track is one from a man who has finally emerged out of the shadows, beginning to receive that recognition that has been much deserved for the past 5 years or so. With his debut full-length album due out early April, DJ Madd has been boosting bass bins with his extremely powerful sounds. Having had the support of many of today’s highest caliber producers and pretty much every top-notch radio show, Madd’s presence had become quite the force to reckon with. We have previously highlighted the tune ‘Riginal’ and ‘Deeply’ Ft. Lady Maroo, both part of his album, and today we have another gem from the The Real and The Shadow LP. This one, titled ‘No Tomorrow’, features the unforgettable vocal presence of the one and only, Rebel MC. This tune is an absolute gem so lend an ear!

.

Coming at you for the second tune is one from Orientis Recordings label boss, Thelem. This guy makes some of the deepest of deep tunes. The track, ‘Cathetus’, is no exception. Utilizing his skills at incorporating some of the illest growls and horns, Thelem builds this one up to be an absolute smasher for all the heads. The double-kick keeps the energy of the tune high while his master-crafted soundscapes incite some truly eerie vibes through your mind. Big up to Thelem!

.

This next bit is another one from our good friends, Truth. I honestly don’t understand how these guys keep putting out the number of bangers that they do. Especially amidst the devastation their home has seen in the past year due to a relentless amount of earthquakes pounding through. These two are a true inspiration. This tune, taken from Yunx’s show yesterday, left me speechless. HUGE rolling rave synths layered up with that wall of sub-frequencies that this duo always brings equates to one of the largest tunes of 2012 thus far. Nuff’ respect!

Truth – Haarp (CLIP)

.

Next, we have another huge one from Percept. This track is an absolute skank-out tune! Forthcoming on Innamind, ‘Boxed In’ shows his very promising style and skill. Percept is definitely one of the artists you are going to want to keep your eyes during 2012, he is sure to emerge with a highly respected presence.

Percept – Boxed In (Forthcoming Innamind Records)

.

The final bit for today is a production hailing from the hands of LAXX, an Oxford based producer who is bringing a very techno-infused vibe to his tracks. The tune, titled ‘System Meltdown’, comes at you hard with a 4×4 beat that will straight MASH-UP the dance! We have really been feeling this particular vibe that producers like LAXX and Killawatt have been putting out. It’s a really fresh take on things. Have a listen and show the man some love!

That’s it for today.

Straight Off The Block!

Wooooo!  We’re back with another batch of fresh beats today, so hope you guys enjoy them.  We have a few different artists that we are highlighting tonight, some known, and some not so well-known.  With that said, regardless of the artists current standing in the game, EVERY one of these tunes is huge!

The first tune that we have for you is one from the south London producer, Percept.  The tune, titled ‘Seclusion’, is an absolute slumper.  Overpowering sub hits come in clean and penetrate your chestplate indefinitely.  Definitely want to keep your eyes on this guys forthcoming progress.  The tune is available for free download, hosted exclusively on Hedmuk.  Visit the website and snag this one for your personal collection!  Download here.

Percept – Seclusion

.

The next two tunes come from another British producer who goes by the name Sorrow.  These tunes are a little bit different from the material that we typically highlight on here but, they are both just really amazing tunes.  The first one, titled ‘Street Warfare’ is a one of the cooler takes on the garage style we’ve heard lately.  Very techy bass chords come in quick and grab the attention of your ears.  The tune then progresses, with beautifully layered vocals filling your brainwaves with positive vibes.  This track is also a free download so take advantage of it and don’t forget to show love to Sorrow for giving this out to us!  The second track that we have for you, from Sorrow, is titled ‘Thinking of You” and is a collaboration with an artist who goes by the name Shura.  This is another tune filled with beautiful vocals, proper atmospherics, and feel-good vibes.  The drop at 1.29 can turn any bad day into a fresh start.  Mad respect from BWS to Sorrow!

Sorrow – Street Warfare

Sorrow & Shura – Thinking of You

.

The last two tunes that wanted to show ya’ll come from Om Unit.  They are both remixes that will be featured on a special edition 7″ release.  The first track, a remix of Daedelus – Vous Etes Stereo, is slower tune with one of the cleanest and sickest sounding snares to guide your steps.  The second tune is a remix of Om’Mas Keith – Girl Is A Player.  This is a sick dance floor tune that has some real nice vocals for the ladies to groove down to and a heavy-hitting sub for all the heads to compromise with ;).  Take a listen!

Om Unit – L.A Refixes

.

Show your love to the artists, spread the love to others, and keep on pushing that deep sound that we here at Bassweight Society love so much!  Mad respect goes out to all of our readers that have been supporting us and spreading the word about what we do here at BWS.  Stay true to your roots and don’t forget to take a step back every now and then to appreciate all the beauty that surround us each day.

One love.
